Have you ever dressed for an occasion, and standing in front of a mirror, saw how wrinkled your clothes were? Didn't the wrinkles ruin your entire look? Your appearance looked out of place, incomplete, sure to make you stand out-and not in a good way! So you take out the iron
and slowly and meticulously begin removing those wrinkles. As you move the iron over the clothing you may inadvertently create a new
wrinkle, but you stay the course until you have a crisp, fresh, new look to meet your day.
Our lives are a lot like a wrinkled shirt. Sin puts wrinkles in our lives which can ruin our relationship with God. Sin takes us away from
where we need to be, making us incomplete, standing out as rebellious in God's eyes.
But when our lives are wrinkled by sin, we have a way to iron those wrinkles away. It is called repentance. When we admit we have sinned
and make the commitment to turn away from the sin, we have all of God's forgiveness in Jesus Christ. He will iron those wrinkles
completely out as if they had never been in our lives. And with the help of the Holy Spirit, Christ is always there to show us any new wrinkles which arise, and constantly and meticulously work to keep them ironed out of our lives, so we can stay crisp, fresh, and presentable to God.
